The holidays are officially over and the expectations for New Years Resolutions are upon us. What's your new years resolution this year? I have a few in mind, but will only commit to one at a time to remain aware, present and SAIN! Lol ;) I've just recently signed up for the 60-day Bikram Challenge at my bikram studio and to be completely honest with you, I'M SCARED!! Not of the yoga itself, but committing to being there every single day for sixty days straight!
Lately I have been struggling to wake up early. I go to bed late and wake up late. So this challenge will be a challenge in more ways than one; discipline, focus, mental prep, nutrition and hydration.
I'm new to bikram yoga but in just a short amount of time, have shown great improvements in my postures, I can't even imagine what will have developed in sixty consecutive days!! YAY!!

Ok! So there's my New Years Resolution... 60 Day Bikram Challenge. Now for the Food Journaling part... I don't want my diet to be where all my attention and focus is, I want my diet to be relaxed, well-nourished and balanced. Mindfully, I know what my body requires. I know what makes me feel tired, lethargic, moody... yet I also know what makes me feel up-beat, enthusiastic, light and on top of the world! I'm gonna take my diet one day at a time, one meal at a time... one craving at a time. I promise to share all that I consume in the next 60 days, it shall be interesting:)

Question! Anyone do a 60 Day Bikram Challenge? If so, I would love to hear your thoughts and personal experiences. What was your diet like while on the challenge?

Please share with me your NYR's :)

Cheers!!!

My Daily Affirmation List:
Today...
I will Smile
I will Give Hugs.
I give Thanks for my Family and Friends.
I am a Goddess.
I will Choose to Juice 100%.
I will Recognize that My Body is My Soul's Temple.
I will take Deep Cleansing Breaths.
I will Honor Myself.
I will Clear the Clutter from my Mind.
I will Be Present.

Juicing has been a staple of my diet recently. Some days 100%, some days juice between meals. I feel my absolute best when I drink juice 100% of the day. I have energy, I feel light, I glow and I'm happier :) It's an all around Win-Win!
So it has been a goal of mine to juice 100% along with consecutive daily Bikram Yoga. My first week of Bikram I juiced about 50%-80% of my days and felt amazing. Sweating out toxins while replenishing my body with superior nutrients. Last week I didn't attend not ONE Bikram class, and on top of my daily juice, I ate lots of starchy foods. I felt bloated, tired and not much like myself. So! This week I am ready to take on my inspiring long-wanted goal... 7 Consecutive Days 100% Juice with 7 Consecutive Days Bikram Yoga! My mind is right, my heart is right and I'm ready!
Today (being Sunday), I am starting the cleanse. 100% juice. Tomorrow, I'll add the Bikram and kick off Day 1! :)
Follow this inspiring week of my motivating goal!! Leave comments of support and love!!

Cheers!!!

Inspired by Yoga

On November 6th 2011, I was invited to the spa by my BFF! She treated me to a massage (which was indeed highly needed and greatly appreciated!). Before my massage though, I took a yoga class there at the facility. It was the best yoga class I had ever experienced! I felt thankful for everything in my life, my kids, my husband, my BFF and even the borrowed mat that I had used during my yoga class! Ha ha ha... I was indeed feeling the gratitude running deep into my veins. I had this "high" all day long thereafter. My BFF and I had deep conversations that brought us closer together, I felt love from the inside out towards everything around me... it was the most amazing feeling. Not only was I happy, but I was also emotional and this carried on with me on the drive home from the spa and through out the rest of the week. The following day (after my lovely spa day), I took a Bikram Yoga class. My first class was good, but different than anything I have ever tried and in all honesty... overwhelming! The 90 minute class felt never ending! The stretching felt great, the sweat pouring from every spot on my body felt great, but my breathing was challenging. I went back to class the next day and in that 90 minute class, I felt great all around!! It was amazing! I went back every day that week and felt stronger and more beautiful with every 90 minute class I took! I took that Bikram Yoga class every day consecutively for that week and felt without a doubt in my heart that THIS was where I was supposed to be. I'm so intrigued with yoga. I feel as if I have been reborn. In this moment in my life, this is where I am supposed to be and this is what I am supposed to be doing. I feel as if I am finding my true self with yoga.
My mind has been so overwhelmed with chaotic thoughts and emotions for the past year (family issues, hurt and the loss of a great friendship)... I tried extreme workout programs and running to help ease my busy mind... it wasn't enough. I journaled to get the thoughts out of my mind and on to paper, but even with that, the mind never seemed to let up.
In the last month, I have dedicated myself to daily juicing. Some days being 100% juice and other days being 50% juice. I've made daily affirmations part of my morning regimen. I choose to only keep myself around positive thinking people. I give to the universe and in return have been given peace of heart. I'm learning to get it now! And I LOVE it!! I'm ready for all the new changes that have come into my life :) I will continue to dedicate myself to Bikram Yoga and Juicing. The changes have only been positive and I know will only keep getting better!! I love myself, who I am becoming and who I am. I'm grateful for the friends in my life.
Change is good!! Change is required to grow and become greater.
Cheers to a new beginning!!

So it's not new info that I have a screwed up thyroid, right! But just recently (in the past 2 weeks) I have decided to quit taking my thyroid meds. Yep! Although my script was filled by the apothecary and it wasn't  made with crappy pig glands, I am feeling the need to be done with the meds and do this naturally. Even if the process for correcting my thyroid function takes much longer... I'm down for it! :)
I haven't seen a change in weight loss either... I'm still hungrier than ever and it takes all my will power to not permit to a "bad" diet.
So here I am, off the meds and starting to feel the effects... SLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPY!!

My BFF sent me the book, Crazy Sexy Diet by Kris Carr... Don't have it? GET IT!!! I'm so serious! This book has got me back on my A GAME! The knowledge, information, facts and desire to be ultimately healthy beam from the pages! I want to juice, pursue my RAW Sexy Life and get on the inside and out healthy bandwagon! I was my healthiest, fittest and happiest when I was 100% Raw... getting back to that is my goal :)

Curious about my marathon training? Well, I haven't ran in over a WEEK!!! Yes! It's true!! My handsome man hurt the top of his foot (we believe from running and his shoe choice), therefore, I haven't been running... you won't see me running solo!! I've got up to 5 and a half miles and need to step it up. 10 miles is my goal for the month of May. I've been doing Turbo Fire to increase my high intensity training... Insanity helps too!!

This weekend... Watermelon! Nothing but watermelon! It's great for detoxing and cleansing and it's so hydrating. I'm really looking forward to it!

Here it is!! My latest vision board!! Anyone that knows me, knows that I LOVE creating vision boards... they keep me committed to my goals, and the power of them are astounding!

Recently (like the past 3-4 weeks) I have been running around the neighborhood with my husband. The more frequently that I run, the more often that I WANT to run. I run 5-7 nights a week, and have been falling in love with this new activity. I look forward to my evening runs with my husband, what once was a painful thought (to run) has now become a thrill!

I never thought of myself as a "runner"... I love the weights and the in-home workout programs, running just came across as boring to me and I laughed at the idea of running... mostly because I couldn't run worth a damn, so I did allow for myself to get into it. But something has changed in me. One night of pushing myself through a run with my husband has turned into me desiring to get out, sneakers on, iTunes blasted to my favorite alternative songs and just... running! It's funny how we change and become something new practically over night. Maybe it was meant to be for me to run... I say, LET'S DO IT!!

Two days ago I created this vision board (picture above). I called my sister as soon as it was completed and said, "Mist! Grab a piece of paper and pen and save these two dates, October 16, 2011 and November 6, 2011!!" Without hesitation, she does exactly what I ask... once the dates are written down, I tell her, "WE'RE running a full marathon in October and a half marathon in November!!" She thought about it for, mmmmm... half a minute than said, "Ok! Let's do it!!"

I registered the next day (yesterday morning), and am so extremely pumped to be doing this!!!!!

I feel great about this goal.

Next mission: SHOES!!!!

Raw Vegan "Beginner" Class

I had so much fun teaching at Whole Fooods last night! The participants were all so enjoyable and relaxed. We kicked off the class With an introduction to basic kitchen equipment (a high speed blender, a food processor, a juicer and more). After a small discussion on the topic of beginning a raw food diet, we got busy in devouring WONDERFUL raw treat recipes from Sarma's book Raw Food Real World. I made Chocolate Pudding, Carrot Ginger Soup with Lime, Almond Milk and a Tropical Green Smoothie. YEAH!!! talk about a treat! :)
I was honored to have in my class amongst the other guests, Kristen Suzanne of Kristens Raw. What a joy!!! Three years ago (when I first began learning of the raw food lifestyle) I attended many of Kristen's classes where she taught me and introduced to me some of the most amazing raw vegan recipes I have ever had! Three years later she is sitting in MY class observing and supporting me, I couldn't be more thrilled about my very first Whole Foods class!!
I have been asked to come back and teach a class every month... Wonderful! It is something I have to think about. Of course I absolutely love teaching and I love being before the audience, but the classes do take up a decent amount of time and with homeschooling and being s mommy, my number one priority are my girls :) so once I decide, I'll be sure to tell!
